ASTYM

A patented tool-assisted technique for treatment of soft tissue injuries including tendonitis and tendinosis. ASTYM can only be performed by a practitioner trained and certified in ASTYM.

Balance Retraining

A type of therapeutic intervention intended to decrease a person’s risk of falling and improve function by improving his/her balance in a variety of environments including unstable surfaces and uneven terrain.

Biomechanical Lower Extremity and Foot Assessment

A physical assessment designed to identify how well your feet and legs are functioning. This assessment will involve an in-depth analysis of how your legs and feet are built and how your personal biomechanics affect how you walk and problems you may be encountering throughout your body.

Custom Foot Orthotics

Foot orthotics are specialized inserts that go into your shoes in place of the original insole. These specialized inserts are designed to manage biomechanical issues in the feet, ankles, knees, hips, pelvis and low back and improve any pain associated with these issues. Custom foot orthotics can help with pain caused by conditions such as plantar fasciitis, arthritis, and bursitis. Our orthotics can be custom fit to each patient and his/her unique foot structure on-site at our clinic.

Custom Tailored Therapeutic Exercise Programs

Unique exercise programs for each patient tailored to meet his/her needs for core strength, stabilization, mobility, generalized strengthening, sports-specific training, balance, body position and post-operative rehabilitation.

Education

Physical therapists educate patients, community groups, employers and workers on a variety of topics. Heavy emphasis is placed on education throughout a patient’s course of care to help the individual have a thorough understanding of their problem and be empowered to manage it. Physical Therapists also provide education and training across industries for prevention, safety and correct body position in the workplace.

Electrical Stimulation (E-stim)

A therapeutic modality involving electricity used for pain management and for muscle re-education. This may also include instruction to clients on use of TENS (transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation) for chronic pain management.

Functional Trigger Point Dry Needling

An intramuscular manual therapy technique that utilizes small needles to deactivate trigger points and loosen shortened muscles and decrease pain. This can also be an effective treatment intervention for conditions that cause sciatica.

Gait Training

Therapeutic interventions designed to assist patients in learning to use an assistive device (i.e. crutches, walker, cane) following injury or surgery and/or to help restore normal walking and/or running.

Game Ready (Compression with Ice)

A therapeutic modality that provides cold and compression to reduce swelling and pain after injuries or post-operative conditions. This treatment allows our therapists to simultaneously apply compression and cold therapies to reduce swelling, minimize pain, and optimize your body’s natural healing abilities.

Home Exercise Programs (HEP)

A tailored program given to patients to complete at home to help maintain or improve the progress made during physical therapy sessions. These exercise programs may include activities such as general endurance exercise, strengthening, balance training and stretching.

Industrial Rehabilitation and Ergonomic Assessment and Instruction

Specialized assessment of a work environment ranging from desk work stations to mining to ranching to manufacturing work stations and everything in between. If work is being performed we can assess the individual’s work practices and work environment. We can then help the worker and the employer to adopt safe practices and/or modify the work station or environment to reduce risk of injury and help the worker be successful with their job.

Joint Mobilization

A manual therapy technique that involves moving the surfaces of a joint in specific directions to improve joint mobility and reduce pain.

Kinesiotaping

A taping technique that is intended to provide support and stability to muscles and joints while facilitating the body’s natural healing process. The tape is also designed to increase a patient’s awareness of muscle use and position of the joints. This technique can be used to correct movement patterns, improve posture, move lymphatic fluids, and change muscle tone.

McConnell Taping

A taping technique designed to re-establish normal movement of various joints to provide pain relief and allow for muscular strengthening. Many patients experience immediate pain relief and are then able to complete the exercises necessary to strengthen associated muscles.

Pelvic Health Physical Therapy

It’s the treatment of a dysfunctional pelvic floor in women, men as well as children including urinary incontinence, bowel incontinence, pelvic/low back pain, and organ prolapse.

The pelvic floor is a group of muscles at the bottom of the pelvic bowl that works with your diaphragm, abdominal and back muscles to help support your organs and your low back, assists with sexual function, and helps to maintain urinary and bowel continence. There are several reasons these muscles can become dysfunctional, including but not limited to pregnancy, prostatectomies, abdominal surgeries, neurologic conditions, and lifestyle habits such as chronic constipation. A trained physical therapist can help you to strengthen, lengthen, re-educate and incorporate these muscles with the rest of your lumbopelvic muscles to help you achieve your goals.

Post-operative Rehabilitation

Therapeutic interventions to help patients manage post-operative pain, swelling, mobility, scar tissue management and dressing changes. Thorough education and training is provided to patients and caregivers as well to manage post-operative restrictions and limitations and prepare for transition to more active rehabilitation interventions including range of motion (ROM), stretching, strengthening and return to normal activity.

Positional Vertigo Treatment

A series of movements that are utilized to treat benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) also known as positional vertigo. These movements are specific to the type of BPPV one has been diagnosed with.

Soft Tissue Mobilization

A manual therapy technique that involves hands-on treatment to help improve the mobility of muscles, ligaments, and fascia, improve circulation, and decrease pain.

Strengthening

A form of physical exercise designed to overload a muscle or muscle group to produce a strengthening effect. The result is a muscle that can produce more force and increase capacity for work and play.

Stretching

A form of physical exercise in which a specific muscle or tendon is elongated to improve the muscle’s felt elasticity and achieve comfortable muscle tone. The result is a feeling of increased muscle control, flexibility, and range of motion.

Swelling Management

A variety of techniques to help decrease swelling which will lead to improved joint mobility and decreased pain. Possible techniques include soft tissue massage, cold compression, and targeted exercises.

Therapeutic Function-Based Exercise

Exercise that specifically focuses on a functional movement(s) or activity(s) that is important to the individual’s function.

Thermal Modalities

This treatment category includes the use of heat and cold to manage pain, swelling, circulation and flexibility of joints and muscles.

Traction
